Meet Cindy Chappell
Cindy Chappell grew up in Williams Lake, and those early years left her with many great memories. She eventually went on to raise her own family here too.. four boys, who kept her life busy and full. When they finally grew up and left home, Cindy decided it was time to open up a new chapter in the book of her life. “I needed a new ‘baby’,” she jokes, so in 2009 she purchased The Bean Counter Bistro & Coffee Shop.
The Bean Counter has become something of a local icon in Williams Lake, and in a sense it keeps a pulse on the community. People often meet for a coffee and chat at the Bean Counter, and Cindy always enjoys keeping up with the regulars. “I love coming to work each day and seeing my customers young and old arrive and leave with a smile on their faces,” remarks Cindy. “I also love being a productive part of a growing community. I’m most proud of being able to create a successful and sustainable business that the community continues to enjoy.”
Cindy refers to Williams Lake as “an outdoor playground,” with many things to enjoy outside in every season. Cindy tries to get in a healthy dose of outdoor play time when she isn’t busy at work. But what really makes Williams Lake special, according to her, are its wonderful citizens. “It is a close-knit community. People know each other and are willing to help one another more,” she says, and people always have a smile to share in passing by.
