Meet Michelle Starlund

Meet Michelle Starlund

Michelle Starlund is a former forestry worker who was ready for a change in her life. She was looking for a new career that would offer greater flexibility so that she could spend more time with her husband, who does shift work, and to be available to take care of her sick grandmother. She also wanted less stress in her own life, and decided that a career helping to pamper and care for others would be a wonderful way to take care of herself, too. So she went back to school, moved to Williams Lake and eventually started her own spa business.

Michelle feels a very personal and deep sense of commitment to her clients ("I have great clientele," she notes), some of whom come in with problems like severely calloused feet. She feels a profound calling to serve people's needs, but will always refer people, especially those with complex foot problems (like the kind caused by diabetes) when the problem requires medical care. She doesn't use blades in her spa as many nail salons do, because they can cause cuts which, in turn, can lead to dangerous infections. Instead, she relies heavily on technology and electric devices which are safer and healthier.

Michelle is a crafty person, and outside of work she enjoys doing a variety of different kinds of crafts. She also likes to get outside when she can. She and her husband recently bought motorbikes, and they also go camping during the summer.
