Meet Crystal Baba

Crystal Baba is the owner of Gecko Tree Café

Crystal Baba was at a crossroads in her life and decided to take a leap of faith and open a restaurant. She started the Gecko Tree Café in 1999 and is still going strong for over 15 years. Many of the customers from her earliest days are still coming in and are among the many that Crystal credits with making the business successful for so long. Being a small town restaurant operator, Crystal knows a large percentage of her customers, a fact that makes serving them a rich and rewarding experience. " I like being a part of this community and providing a high quality product for my customers," she states.

There’s lots to love about life in Williams Lake, notes Crystal. The cost of living is relatively low, allowing her to have a comfortable lifestyle rich with activity and even a little bit of travel. Crystal also appreciates the terrain and the natural surroundings that provide so much opportunity in the way of outdoor recreation and enjoyment, and she heads outside whenever she gets the chance. She is especially fond of all of the fabulous trails in and around town, ideal for biking, hiking and running all year round.

With so much going for it, Crystal believes that Williams Lake will always thrive, even when hard times ensue. Small towns, she says, always need small businesses, and it is important to support them whenever possible. As long as people keep doing this, “we can keep a thriving community.”
