Meet Betty Donahue & Stewart Bell
By sheer coincidence, Betty Donahue and Stewart Bell both moved to Williams Lake in 1987. Both worked as physiotherapists in Williams Lake, but for different clinics. Over the next several years the two would cross paths in a professional capacity and develop a good working relationship. Betty eventually went on to start her own practice, while Stewart would purchase the business that he had worked at for several years. Eventually, after experiencing similar struggles to find coverage for their vacations and days off, Betty proposed the idea of merging their two practices into one that would be mutually beneficial, as well as offer better services to the public. They merged their clinics in 1999 in what turned out to be a fruitful decision.
The practice has grown by leaps and bounds since then. Pro Physioworks has developed a trustworthy reputation within the community. The clinic now has several physiotherapists on staff who were raised in Williams Lake and specifically sought out Pro Physioworks as a place to practice professionally. Betty and Stewart are proud of their entire team, which includes administrative and reception staff who, they say, are extremely capable and caring. “Our reception staff are wonderful and provide an excellent front line impression of our practice.” Stewart is also grateful for the support of his wife, Lynn Bell, also a physiotherapist. She was instrumental during the early days of the merger in working the administrative and business side of things. These days Lynn works as an animal physiotherapist, mainly with canines, out of a local vet clinic.
Physical fitness and activity are a high priority for Betty and Stewart as well as for their staff. Betty and her husband are avid bikers, hikers and cross country skiers. Stewart enjoys mountain biking, cross country skiing, woodworking and working on his rural acreage. Stewart used to be a trainer with the Williams Lake Stampeders senior men’s hockey team and still volunteers as the team physiotherapist. Here in Williams Lake, say Betty and Stewart, residents are blessed with an endless number of ways to be active and enjoy recreation and fitness both in and out of doors.
