Taylor Made Cakes & Sweets

Brenda and Dale Taylor have lived in Williams Lake for over two decades and raised their family in the community that they say is full of giving people. No matter what the need, says Brenda, "everyone pulls together to help, whether is it a fundraising event, a family in need, or a special community event." In fact, the Taylors feel like their regular customers are more like an extension of their family.

The Taylors started their bakery in 2011, but Brenda believes that she had entrepreneurship in her genes long before they baked their first cake. She grew up in a family business. That early exposure made running a business just a natural part of who she is, and she loves the day-to-day challenges, even in spite of all the hard work. Her very favourite part of her job, though, is when she makes a special cake for someone and they get a smile on their face and say "it's just perfect!"

The bakery is very much a family business, with Brenda doing much of the baking. And although Dale also works in local radio, he comes in to help every day, doing whatever needs to be done (often the dishes). The Taylors deeply appreciate their local customers and always try to show that by offering a hand, whether it's something as simple as carrying a cake out to a customer's car, or by supporting one of their favourite local clubs or charities. They are actively involved in several local organizations doing volunteer work with what little spare time is left at the end of the busy work day.
