Meet Lisa Bland
Owning a regional publication was more work than Lisa Bland ever imagined, but she has loved every minute of it since she became Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of TheGreenGazette in 2012. Buying the business was a perfect fit with her passion for the environment and sustainable living, and a good fit for the Cariboo region, which is so inter-connected with its natural surroundings.
For Lisa, becoming the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of TheGreenGazette was worth the effort. “I really wanted to be able to exercise my creativity and to do something that I really cared about and that involved a network of people. This business involves the collaboration of many people. I really care about this work,” says Lisa, adding that owning and operating TheGreenGazette has helped her to see the community in a whole new light and she now feels more rooted here than ever.
Lisa has lived in the Williams Lake area for 20 years and has always appreciated its diversity and its “not too big and not too small” size. But more than anything else, she has stayed because of the people. “The people are really awesome here!” She adds that she really enjoys the personal, day-to-day contact with the community “You feel like you really belong to something, a network,” Lisa says. “There is so much heart here. People really support one another.”
Caring. Independent. Empowering.
